Our Approach
The EDLAB (Education, Development, Learning, And Brain) approach is to build an engine for change: a ground-up integrated partnership between schools and educators on the one hand and academic researchers in diverse disciplines on the other with the goal of creating an infrastructure that weaves research and educational practice into an integrated tapestry. Under such a model, collaborative researchers benefit from the deep knowledge of educators and align research to best support educators, while educators are empowered by the tools of scientific inquiry and by becoming partners in research that directly benefits them and their students.
UCSD is at the forefront of educational, cognitive, and developmental neuroscientific research, fields with highly complementary strengths. We are a dedicated group of researchers, with the essential support of visionary donors, who for the past several years have been carefully building a foundation of researcher/educator collaboration by cultivating a unique and valuable partnership with local school districts deeply committed to change.
